Stirum Sukham Asanam
find steadiness and ease in the pose
It’s Monday. The ocean is calm yet windy.
It’s Summer. My body is strong yet lazy.
My daily yoga practice this summer has been an exercise in leading myself through one hour of asana. The playlist helps. The goal of being a good teacher motivates. One hour is a good healthy chunk of my day. I hope I can be so lucky as to keep it up. I suppose I’ll always be able to wake one hour earlier in order to get it done.
Yoga, in our western culture, has a funny dance between training and spirituality. And teachers dance a funny dance between preaching, inspiring, and stepping back and letting their students do their own internal evolution.
My challenge has been stepping away from the chitter chatter of my chattering brain.
